John Donaldson

John Donaldson was born in Lewes, Sussex in 1945 and received his initial artistic training from his grandfather, who was an accomplished painter in the early part of the British Impressionist movement. John has been a professional artist all of his adult life. He has been exhibited over fifty times and all over the world. Donaldson is renowned for his romantic renditions of city life in Paris and London, and for his sun filled landscapes of Southern France. Nothing is sentimentalized in his paintings, for there is both hard work and tranquility in his portrayals. John has been featured in Royles 'Artists Britain' calendar on several occasions and has had many of his works published.

When he is not painting, John spends his free time traveling and indulging his passion for fine wines. He is also a talented musician, playing both piano and organ. He is married to Sandi, who is always on location with him and whom he often features in his paintings. John divides his time between his studios in Devon, England and Limoux in southwest France.
